Laser facial rejuvenation - everything you need to know

Laser facial rejuvenation gives a very natural and long-lasting effect. It is an excellent alternative to surgical interventions.

Thanks to the stimulation of the collagen in the skin, it starts the natural regeneration processes and contributes to the visible improvement of the skin's condition. What should you know about laser facial rejuvenation?

When should you use a laser for wrinkles?

Almost all antiaging procedures can be performed with a laser. Modern anti-wrinkle lasers are characterized by many applications, often in a single device:

  • antidote to wrinkles
  • strengthens and tightens the skin,
  • eliminates discoloration,
  • closes the capillaries
  • remove acne scars.

Experts know everything about laser facial rejuvenation. This is a procedure that can be used at almost any age. Depending on the device and its parameters, it is possible to treat the visible signs of skin aging, or treatments that strengthen the condition of young skin and slow down the aging process. However, people over 30 years of age most often decide on laser skin rejuvenation, when more pronounced wrinkles, discoloration and dilated capillaries appear on the face.

What is laser facial rejuvenation?

Laser facial rejuvenation is an aesthetic procedure performed by a doctor. The specialist performs a series of laser "shots" aimed at the areas of the face in need of intensive regeneration. The energy very precisely targets the imperfections and mobilizes the skin to begin its regenerative activity.

The laser emits a beam of light with a specific wavelength, which affects certain chromophores in the skin. Chromophores are substances such as water, melanin (skin pigment) and hemoglobin (blood pigment). The individual materials absorb the laser energy, which causes a photothermal (photomechanical in the case of picosecond lasers) effect and leads to controlled damage of the treated tissue. This way you can eliminate wrinkles, discoloration or dilated capillaries (so-called spider veins). When in contact with water, fractional lasers affect the skin cells and stimulate their collagen and elastin production. Vascular lasers fix hemoglobin and thus lead to occlusion of blood vessels. On the other hand, lasers designed to remove age spots react with melanin.

Is laser rejuvenation safe?

Provided that laser facial rejuvenation is performed by an experienced specialist, using professional equipment and in a specialized center, you can be sure that the procedure will be safe and will produce the expected results. Depending on the device used, the procedure can be more or less painful. For people who are sensitive to pain, the doctor may use a local anesthetic with a numbing cream. Be prepared for irritation, redness and swelling after the procedure. This is a normal skin reaction to laser radiation. The treatment causes controlled inflammation, which stimulates skin regeneration. The temperature caused by laser facial rejuvenation causes an influx of fibroblasts, e. g. cells that produce collagen fibers. Thanks to this, the skin regenerates from the inside.

Since laser facial rejuvenation is based on stimulating the skin's natural processes, you should be prepared for the fact that the effect will not be immediately visible. First, you need more treatments to get visible results. Second, laser-initiated collagen remodeling takes several weeks or even months. Therefore, it is necessary to wait approximately 3 months after the completion of laser therapy to achieve optimal results.
